This Privacy Policy explains how AkmaCam (“AkmaCam,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use our website at akmacam.com, our web dashboard, and the AkmaCam Android application (together, the “Services”).

By creating an account, installing the app, or using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Who we are

AkmaCam provides software that lets you turn an Android phone into a live camera and recorder, and view or manage that camera from a secure web dashboard.

  • Website / dashboard: https://akmacam.com
  • Android app: AkmaCam (Google Play / sideload builds as applicable)
  • Support: support@akmacam.com

2. Scope of this policy

This policy covers:

  • The public website and marketing pages
  • Account registration, sign-in, and the web dashboard
  • The AkmaCam Android application used as a camera device
  • Pairing between the phone app and your web account
  • Camera sharing features between AkmaCam users

This policy does not cover third-party websites, apps, or services that we do not control, even if they are linked from our Services.

3. Information we collect

We collect information in the following categories.

3.1 Account and identity information

  • Name (if you provide it)
  • Email address
  • Authentication credentials / tokens managed through our identity provider (e.g. Firebase Authentication)
  • Account session information needed to keep you signed in securely

3.2 Device and camera registration information

  • Camera / device display name you choose
  • Device identifiers used to register and recognize a paired camera
  • Pairing tokens and device credentials created when you link a phone to your account
  • Online / offline status and basic connectivity metadata needed to show camera health
  • Optional network-related context (for example Wi‑Fi / local network information) used for setup, LAN access, or connectivity features

3.3 Usage and technical information

  • Log data such as IP address, browser type, app version, timestamps, and request paths
  • Diagnostic events related to sign-in, pairing, streaming, or errors
  • Approximate regional location inferred from network (for security and abuse prevention), where applicable

3.4 Communications

  • Messages you send to support
  • In-product notifications related to shares, pairing, or account events

3.5 Information we do not sell

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your camera video or microphone audio for advertising.

4. Android app permissions

The AkmaCam Android app may request permissions required for its core camera functions. Permissions are requested only when needed, and you can deny them in Android settings (some features will not work without them).

Permission / access Why we need it
Camera Capture live video for streaming and recording.
Microphone Capture audio with live video or recordings when enabled.
Notifications Show an ongoing foreground-service notification while streaming/recording, and alert you to important events.
Foreground service (camera / microphone) Keep streaming or recording reliable while the app is in the background.
Network access Connect the phone to your AkmaCam account, dashboard, and live viewing session.
Location (approximate / precise, if requested) Support network setup features such as identifying Wi‑Fi context on Android. Not used for advertising tracking.
Battery optimization exemption / keep-awake Help the camera stay online for continuous streaming when you explicitly allow it.
Storage / media access (as applicable) Store recordings and related media files on the device according to the app’s recording features.

You can revoke permissions at any time in your device settings. Revoking camera, microphone, or notification access may stop live streaming or recording.

5. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Pair Android cameras to your dashboard
  • Provide live viewing, recording controls, sharing, and device settings
  • Authenticate users and protect accounts against unauthorized access
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Services
  • Diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and ensure security
  • Send transactional messages (e.g. password reset, share invites, security notices)
  • Comply with legal obligations

We process personal information where appropriate under one or more of these bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests (security, product improvement, abuse prevention), consent (where required), and legal compliance.

6. Camera, microphone, and recordings

Video and audio captured by a paired phone are the core of the product. How they are handled depends on your setup and features you use:

  • On-device recording: Recordings may be stored primarily on the camera phone’s local storage, consistent with a local-first design.
  • Live streaming: Live video/audio may be transmitted over encrypted connections so you (and people you explicitly share with) can view the camera from the dashboard.
  • Access control: Only your account and users you invite/share with should be able to view a camera, subject to authentication and access checks.
  • Privacy Mode: If enabled in the app, Privacy Mode is intended to temporarily stop exposing the camera feed according to the in-app behavior.

You are responsible for using cameras lawfully — including obtaining any required notices or consents from people who may be recorded, and complying with local surveillance and privacy laws.

7. How we share information

We may share information only as described below:

7.1 With people you choose

If you share a camera with another AkmaCam user, that person can access the camera according to the permissions of the share (for example, viewing live video). You can revoke shares where the product allows.

7.2 Service providers

We use trusted infrastructure and service providers to operate the Services, which may include:

  • Cloud hosting and edge compute (e.g. Cloudflare)
  • Authentication providers (e.g. Firebase Authentication)
  • Email delivery for account and security messages
  • Connectivity / tunneling components needed for remote camera access

These providers process data only to provide services to us and under appropriate contractual and security controls.

7.3 Legal and safety

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or integrity of users, the Services, or the public.

7.4 Business transfers

If AkmaCam is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and this policy’s principles.

8. Data retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for security, disputes, or legal compliance.
  • Pairing / device credentials are retained while a camera remains registered to an account, and removed or invalidated when a camera is unpaired or an account is deleted.
  • Local recordings remain on the phone until you delete them or the device storage policy removes them.
  • Logs and diagnostics are kept for a limited period needed for security and operations.

See Account deletion below for how to delete your account and associated cloud data.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your AkmaCam account and associated cloud data from the web dashboard:

  1. Sign in at akmacam.com/login
  2. Open the Me tab
  3. Tap your account / View account
  4. Tap Delete account
  5. Type DELETE to confirm

When you delete your account, we remove:

  • Your account profile and sign-in session
  • Cameras registered to your account in the cloud (paired phones return to onboarding)
  • Camera shares you own or receive (owners’ share lists update immediately)
  • Dashboard notifications and web push subscriptions
  • Cloud preview thumbnails for your cameras
  • Firebase email/password authentication for this account (when you signed up that way)

Recordings stored on your phone, USB, or SD card are not deleted automatically — remove those on the device. Your Google Account itself is not deleted (only your AkmaCam link).

If you cannot sign in, email support@akmacam.com from the address on your account and we will process the request within a reasonable time and as required by applicable law.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including:

  • Encrypted transport (HTTPS / TLS) for website and cloud communications
  • Authenticated sessions for dashboard access
  • Pairing tokens / device credentials instead of sharing your password with the phone
  • Access checks before camera viewing or control

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use a strong unique password, keep your devices updated, and only share cameras with people you trust.

10. Cookies and local storage

We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for:

  • Keeping you signed in
  • Remembering preferences (for example last-used email on the login screen)
  • Security and session integrity
  • Basic product functionality

We do not use third-party advertising cookies to track you across other sites for ads. You can clear cookies/local storage in your browser; doing so may sign you out.

11. Children’s privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact support@akmacam.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account or certain personal data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Export a copy of certain account data

You can also:

13. International transfers

We may process and store information on servers or infrastructure located in different countries (including through Cloudflare and other providers). Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, if changes are material, provide additional notice (for example by email or an in-product notice) where appropriate.

The current version is always available at https://akmacam.com/privacy.
